Maternity sessions

Ideal time to schedule: 27 to 32 weeks

This is the sweet spot where your belly is beautifully round, but you’re still feeling comfortable enough to move and enjoy the session.
Of course, we can do it at 36 or even 40 weeks — but just be aware: things might feel a bit heavier, and your energy may be lower.

Key tip: Book your maternity photographer in Austin or the surrounding areas at least 4–6 weeks ahead to secure your preferred date and location.

Birth photography

Ideal time to book: between 28 and 34 weeks

Booking early gives us time to talk through your preferences, prepare for different birth scenarios, and ensure I’m officially on call for you during your birth window.

Because birth is unpredictable, I take a very limited number of clients each month to make sure I’m available day or night.

Bonus: You’ll have peace of mind knowing you don’t have to think about anything when labor begins — I’ll be ready.

Fresh 48 (or Fresh 24)

Ideal time to book: 2–3 weeks before your due date

Fresh 48 sessions are done within the first 24 to 48 hours after your baby arrives — usually in the hospital or birthing center. They’re raw, emotional, and incredibly fleeting.

To make sure I can come during this short window, I recommend booking in advance. I’ll stay in touch around your due date and be ready when you message me after the birth.

Family Sessions (at home or outdoors)

Ideal time to book: 2+ weeks before the session

Family photos often feel more relaxed when everyone is prepared — clothes chosen, naps scheduled, snacks packed.
Booking ahead gives you time to pick outfits, talk with your kids about what to expect, and find a time of day that works best for your family rhythm.

Final thoughts

Whatever session you’re dreaming of — whether it’s a maternity shoot at sunset in Austin, an intimate birth session in San Marcos, or a cozy newborn session at home - the earlier we connect, the smoother and more meaningful the experience will be.
